Starting out his career as a dermatologist in the cosmetic surgery industry, Dr. Tim Ioannides found that he enjoyed medical dermatology much more. Tim Ioannides wanted to help people with their skin conditions such as skin cancer, eczema, fungal infections, warts, and athlete’s foot. He left the cosmetic surgeon he had been working for and established Treasure Coast Dermatology in 2004.
He now has multiple locations in South Florida. Tim Ioannides also volunteers as a professor at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Tim Ioannides says that he wants to help change people’s lives for the better through his work. Dr. Tim Ioannides is especially dedicated to helping people protect their skin from cancer through spreading education about it. He says that skin cancer cases are on the rise and it’s because many people don’t proactively protect their skin from the sun.
He says that doing cosmetic procedures, such as injections and fillers, just wasn’t for him. People who enjoy doing cosmetic dermatology are motivated by different desires and incentives than someone that does medical dermatology. Dr. Tim Ioannides says he quickly saw he would never be professionally filled just making patients look better. He opened Treasure Coast Dermatology because he wanted to be in control of the practice, including its atmosphere and what he offers patients.
Dr. Tim Ioannides says he made some mistakes early on in his practice that he learned a lot from. He had some interoffice conflict that he wasn’t able to successfully navigate. He also learned how to do employee relations the right way and how the whole staff can work better together. He started out focusing on an employee’s talents rather than their overall attitude. He learned doing so leads to lengthy and persistent negative situations. He now knows to remove people who aren’t team players. Go To This Page for additional information.
