Nathaniel Ru- co-founder of Sweetgreens


In August of 2007 Sweetgreen’s was founded by Nathaniel Ru, Nicolas Jammet and Jonathan Neman. The establishment was found only three months after the three founders had graduated from Georgetown University in the University’s undergraduate buisness school. The resturant since than has come to be known as being an American fast casual resturant chain.

Sweetgreen’s is said to have 64 stores in operation as of October 2016. All of these stores are located in the United States in, Virgina, California, Massachusetts, Illinois, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and Maryland. Currently, the company is known to have 1,700 active employees.

In 2010 Nathaniel Ru and his two co-founders began Sweetlife. Sweetlife has since than become known as the regions largest food and music festival. Each year it is estimated thatthe event attracts more than 20,000 people.

Just like Sweetgreens resturants, Sweetlife embraces health, good living, sustainability and community. The festival takes place each year at the Merriweather Post Pavillion that is located in Columbia, MD. 2016 will make the 7th year that Sweetlife has been held at the Merriweather Post Pavillion.

Sweetgreens achievements does not stop there though. Sweetgreens is not only able to offer healthy food but they are able to offer it at a reasonable price. Unlike a normal salad after you eat one of the Sweetgreens salads you are not left hungry 45 minutes later. The best part is that you can afford healthy food for the same price as you can afford a hamburger and fries.

Nathaniel Ru has stated that one of the main goals of Sweetgreen’s is to feel inviting to customers. Upon entering Sweetgreens you right away get the feeling that Sweetgreens is a restaurant you can rely on. Ru states that one of the things they do to make customers feel more comfortable is an open kitchen. They state that whole ordering process should only take 2-3 minutes from start to finish.

Sweetgreens strives to provide customers with the freshest of ingredients. They start by only getting their ingredients by close farmers each morning. Sweetgreens is one food chain that plans on continuing to better their resturant food chains.
